Hi Folks:

[I tried posting this online, but the attempt failed twice.]

I use Word 2002, and I'm having problems with its Default settings.

Wheever I create a new document, and type in the text, and I come to the end
of line (the right margin), Word 2002 should drop down to the next line
without fragmenting any words at the right margin. But instead, Word 2002
will fragment any word at the margin, like this:

Example:

This text is an example of how Word 2002 fr
agments words at the margin

How do I get Word 2002 to stop doing that? No word processer should do that;
even Notepad does not do that.

I want to set up Word 2002 to use Arial OUP Bold 12pt as the Default Font
for all my new documents, to Justify the text for all my new documents (like
in books, newspapers, and magazines), and to not fragment words at the end
of a line in all my new documents. How do I do that?

It would appear that this particular font is marked as "decorative." Word
therefore considers it a symbol font and believes it will not be used for
"words" and therefore can be broken anywhere.

Thank you! That never occurred to me. I wonder if the OED CD v2 software
installed the Arial OUP on my computer.
