Word 2002: HTML w/headers

J

James

Any way to save a Word 2002 file to HTML and preserve header information?

For example, if the Word Doc looks like this:

Document1/Joe Blow Page 1 of 35

document body
document body
document body
document body
document body
document body
document body
document body

the HTML file omits the header info and all you get is

document body
document body
document body
document body
document body
document body
document body

etc.

to the end of the document.

What would be helpful, especially in long documents which are saved to HTML,
is to be able to preserve header information which would recur in the
positions where page breaks normally do in the Word doc. It would make the
online docs easier to read.

Here's a simpler inquiry based on the same premise: Any way to show page
breaks in a Word doc saved to HTML?

Thanks.

Hi James,

If you save with the full, round-trip HTML the information will not be
lost. But since a browser doesn't use headers/footers, it will never
display in a browser.
Any way to show page
breaks in a Word doc saved to HTML?
No, and for the same reason as above: a browser doesn't "understand" page
beraks. But a file saved in full, round-trip HTML will retain this
information so that it will appear again if the file is opened in Word.
