Word was working just fine a few days ago, however, now all of my saved word
documents all say "yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..." on the
entire page. Have any clues on what I did wrong or how to get my word docs
back?

It suggests that all the documents have corrupted. Have you had them located
on some form of removable media? Have you done anything other than have them
sitting on your local HDD?

Have you installed anything new such as Anti Virus, Disk Defragmenter or
other utility?

Have you had a nasty virus?

I have been trying to copy them to CD, however, my burner is not working
correctly and some of the CD's that have completed the burn will not read.
Has trying to read a corrupted CD damaged everything?
I have installed a few Microsoft debugging tools, that I still cannot figure
out how to use. While using them I have made some changes to some of my
settings. I could have changed the wrong thing, however, with my small memory
I cannot remember what those changes were. I tryed running "sfc /scannow" to
set everything back to default settings, but that did not work.
Have not had a virus that I am aware of, I did a scan 4 days ago.
Any Ideas?

From that information I am guessing that somehow the CD burning software has
damaged your documents. You can see if any of them are rescuable by trying
to open them in WordPad. There's also the Recover Text from Any File option
in Word too, but it sounds as though they are beyond that.

Using WordPad does not work either, I also tryed to open it with ICR Server
TextBridge and all I got with that was a blank screen. Another thing I cannot
understand is that a few of my Word documents do open just fine with no
problems, why some and not all?

I am also getting an error message in Word and in Office XP Pro that says--
"Microsoft Word cannot install the necessary files due to Windows Installer
error 1635"
I have tryed searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the "1635" error but
cannot find an answer on how to correct it. Any clues as to how this error
can be fixed?

If they don't open in WordPad, then they are damaged beyond repair. Because
some are damaged and not others suggests that only some were damaged when
trying to burn them to CD. Did you try burning all of them or just some of
them?

What are you doing when you get the Word error message?

I was trying to burn a copy of my documents and only had enough room on the
CD for half of them, however, the entire folder is effected, not just the
ones I burned. Most of the WORD documents (.doc, .rtf, .ERR) are effected,
also the Internet Explorer (.mht) files are all Y's. When I said "everything
is "yyyyyyy" on the documents", I forgoy to say that all of the "Y's" have
two dots (..) on top of them. I don't know if that means anything, but is
consistant on all of them.
Some of the files I tryed to copy still work e.g., Video (.avi) files still
work, but that is about all. The (PDF) Adobe files say "could not open, file
has been damaged", the (.txt) text files say "Access is denied".
As far as the "1635" error goes, I was clicking on the Help button in Word
and choosing the "Detect and repair" option, however, I cannot reproduce that
anymore. What I am getting now is a Windows Installer error that says "This
package could not be opened. Verify that the patch exists and that youy can
access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid
Windows Installer patch package."
I do not know how to do this.
At the time I was burnning the CD, I received an error message from
CREATR50.EXE-Application Error that said "The execption Breakpoint A
breakpoint has been reached. (0x80000003) occurred in the application at
location 0x7c901230. Click on OK to terminate the program"
That is about all I can give you now, are there any logs that you can use or
any scans tha I can do to get you more information? Let me know.
