Word 2002 inserts bullets

When I create a table in Word 2002, it is inserting a bullet in each cell.
The style indicated is either body text or table grid, but when I try to
modify the styles they do not indicate that there is a bullet. What could
be causing this? How can I correct it? Thanks

Was there a bullet on the paragraph you were in when you inserted the table?
Is the Bullets button "on"? What happens if you select the entire table (or
any given cell) and press Ctrl+Q?

There was not bullet, and the bullets button is off. Ctrl+Q eliminated the
bullets. Many thanks!

However, I forgot to mention that, while Ctrl+Q clears the bullets, they
still come up when I create the table. Any way to prevent this?

No clue, and it would be hard to tell without seeing the document. Does this
happen in any document or just a specific one?

It has not happened in every document, but several that were saved from a
larger document.
