Word 2002 is confused over the active doc filename

Hi, I wonder if anyone has had this problem, or can
suggest whats going on here?
I'm editing a longish doc. and have resaved the latest
version of it with a new filename. Word can find and open
the new doc. and shows its new name in the recent file
list. So far so good.
But when I try to insert a filename and path footer using
the footer autotexts, it puts in the OLD filename.
Checking the file properties box shows that Word still
thinks this is the old file, not the new one, even though
it has been "saved as..." the new name and subsequently
opened in this new name.
Resaving doesn't resolve this error, and there does not
seem to be a way to manually update the properties.
All ideas and suggestions will be gratefully received.
Thanks

The Filename AutoText should be inserting the {FILENAME} field, so the first
thing to check are that that is actually the case (toggle the field code)
and that the field has been updated.

However, I don't understand how the incorrect filename can be showing in the
file properties dialog - where are you seeing this? If this is really true
then I can only think that the file is seriously corrupted!

Unless what's being inserted is not the filename but the Title property.
