Word 2002 looses document when about to save.

We have Windows XP- Word 2002. My husband has tried to
type a document in Word, and after a while it will kick
him off, loosing his work. Some message about "Time
Limit" or something. I asked my daughter if she ever had
a similar problem on hers-- she said Word is always
kicking her off as she is getting ready to save her work.
Very frustrating for college students as you can imagine.
What gives???
