Word 2002: Merge and Compare docs

I can't find any way to turn this off - MS knowledge base has nothing - the
Word help has nothing

if someone knows how I can stop this feature, please let me know

What do you mean by "turn it off"? How do you recognize that it's "on"?

I think you mean you can't get rid of the red marked bits?

Right click and 'accept' the changes or 'reject' them as is appropriate.
