WORD 2002 , Mouse is not Arrow and can noty select from TOC

I have a very strength and annoying problem and I don't know how to
fix it. It msut be a very small problem but in fact freeze lots of my
activities.

Basically what happen is my Mouse pointer is a regular doc is always
like a vertical line instead of being as a arrow pointer and I can not
select anything, For example I have a table of content in my doc but
when I click of one of line in table of content I expect the page
moves to that part but it doesn't select it and it doesn't go to
corressponding page.

PLEASE help me out how can I get back to regular doc and can select
from table of content and my mouse pointer become arrow again.

I hope I explain it in a way that you understand the issue. Really
appreciate your help.

Open your mouse properties and uncheck "hide cursor while typing" in an
Office document.
