Just got done with an NT4 to W2K conversion, moved all of
the data from the older server to the new one, and users
are getting a lot of errors when opening Word documents.
From what I can tell, it only happens on existing
documents that I moved from the old NT4 server to the new
W2K server. One of the errors is "The disk is full or too
many files are open." and the other error is "The save
failed due to out of memory or disk space." and then lists
the document they are working on in parenthesis. The
server has about 7GB of free space on the C drive and
about 120GB free on the drive where the data is at. The
user's PCs all have many GBs of free space and memory is
OK too. I've checked Technet and Microsoft's main
search/support pages and found many documents about this,
and tried everything with no luck. However, these PCs are
all Windows XP with Office XP, and the things I found on
Microsoft's support pages were all about earlier versions
of Word (2000, 97, etc..) Anyone else seen this before?
Hopefully, it isn't file corruption during the move. All
I did was created a folder on the new server, and moved
the files using Windows Explorer.
