Word 2002 resets when I try to edit index formatted with \h switch

Can anyone shed any light on why Word 2002 resets/crashes
whenever I try to edit the format (using the dialog box
only) of an index that includes the \h switch?

Is there any kind of work around for this?

Does Microsoft know about this reset? Every time it
happens, I send the error information to Microsoft, but I
can't figure out how to send a simple email that provides
specific instructions on what to do.
