Word 2002 Run Time Error

When I open word and start to create a word document I get
a Microsoft Visual C++ Run Time Library pop up box that
says: Run time error. Program:c:\program files\microsoft
office\office 10\WINWORD.EXE. Abnormal program
termination. It then exits me out of the word document and
the document is lost.

To try to fix this error I have uninstalled and
reinstalled Word 2002 from the cd that came with my
computer. I have turned off McAfee Antivirus software. I
searched for the Normal.dot file and it does not exist on
my computer.
