Word 2002- Runtime Errors

For the past few day I have tried opening some Word files that I created
previously. Before I can
work on the file I receive a message that says
Runtime Error
C:\ Program Files\Microsoft Office10\winword.exe Abnormal program
termination.

I can only select O.K. and the file closes. I can create new files, save
them and reopen them just fine. I can open some documents just fine and they
work for a few minutes and then shut down with the same error. The only
addins that I can see associated with my Normal Template is
those from Endnote X. They have been on my computers for over a month and I
have had no problems with them. I tried removing them and I still see the
same problems.I have tried going in to winword /a
winword.exe /a and I see no hidden addins. The template seems to work just
fine as well. I have tried using the suggestions on the websites
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm
but have had no luck resolving the problem. I can't think of anything new I
installed on my computer in the last few days.

If you start WOrd with the /a switch (safe mode), can you open the
documents?

Also, when I try to detect and fix errors either using the option in word or
using my installations cd I receive an error regarding msiexec.exe and the
operation stopes

This would indicate that Office is broken and that the Windows Installer is
either out of date or broken as well. If you go to Microsoft Support, you
can download an update to the installer which will then allow you to repair
Office.

Thank you! I did not actually need to update the installer. Instead of
using the fix or repair option I chose to reintsall Office from the cd and
that solved the problem.
