Word 2002 S-L-O-W

Anytime I open or close a Word document, it takes 10-20
seconds. I am not on a network. I do have Norton Anti-
Virus. Seems like installing Norton package caused the
slow down. Have tried turning off various things on
Norton to bypass Word documents, but just not working.
Anything anyone can suggest? This is driving me crazy!!

Disabling the Norton Office Plug-in will help (and doesn't affect your virus
protection). Also, if you have Outlook installed, even if you're not using
it, it will probably have "journaling" (keeping track of Word and Excel
files opened and closed) enabled by default.
