Word 2002 SP 2 Password Protection Problem ...

Hello -

I have Word 2002 SP 2 installed on my Windows 2K Professional machine.
When I try to password-protect a document against opening or
modifying it will just ignore that. At first I thought it would let
me open the file because I am the same user who created it, but I
exchanged it with a colleague and he could open the file without a
password. It used to work and I suspect that SP 2 screwed me over but
I'm not entirely sure.

Does anyone have an idea what to do about that?
