Word 2002 SP2 & Mail Merge ?

D

Deasun

Good evening,

Is there a limit to the number of records that a data
source txt file can have for a mail merge data source?

My file is 7,255KB big.
# of records: 25151

If I cut the file down to 130 records it works fine.
Problem in Word is with 130 records i can move back and
forth thru the records no problem. With 25000+ records it
opens to record 110 and won't move off it.
All the records look fine, no weird chara.s or misssing
values/fields.

I am at a loss as to whats wrong with it.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi Deasun,

There's no official limit to the number of records mail
merge can bring in, but there's usually a practical one. At
some point, the system running mail merge just bogs down -
it will be different from configuration to configuration.

All you can do is test until you find your system's breaking
point, then break down the mail merge into batches.
