Word 2002 Table of Contents not working

Hi,

My company upgraded from Windows NT and word 2000 to Windows XP and
Word 2002. I opened and viewed all my word documents perfectly. But
when I modified and saved a document, it messed up all my Table of
contents and styles. The TOC and TC fields appear in the document as
regular text instead of hidden text with curly brackets. Has anyone
faced this problem ? Also, we use a template stored on the network and
after saving these documents, the styles within them are not in the
proper format.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks !

Try pressing Alt-F9 to toggle the field code display off.

Doesn't work. I generate these documents through a document assembly
program iD Solutions, As long as the files were untouched from the
2000 version of saved without changes it generates properly. But if I
modify something and then save and generate, it converts the curly
brackets to squares and the whole tc line appears as regular text
instead of hidden text.

{ TOC \f}

Insert in same page{ TC "insert in the same page" \f}

After generation becomes plain text as below except that the * is
actually a square shaped symbol. So it renders the TOC but prints the
code and result as plain text.

*TOC \f *insert in same page

Insert in same page* TC "insert in same page" \f *

Hi krishnadeepa,

Is your copy of Word 2002 fully patched? Are you sure your not opening the files in a text recovery mode?

Alternatively, maybe there's a bug in your document assembly program. Have you checked with the suppliers for any Word 2002 issues?

Cheers
