In that case, yes, you can have text and a table on the same line, though
it's a little tricky. What you want is a "wrapped" table. Create a table, go
to Table Properties, and, on the Table tab, choose Around for Text Wrapping.
You can accomplish the same thing by dragging the table by its handle (top
left-hand corner in Print Layout view). Note that this feature is not
entirely backward-compatible; if you want to be able to use the document in
previous versions of Word, you'd do better to put the table in a frame,
which is about what this amounts to, anyway, and a frame is a lot more
evident and easier to deal with.
While this allows you to wrap text around a table (including having text
beside the table), in many cases you can accomplish the same thing by
including text in the table itself, merging cells and removing borders as
needed.
