How do I lock text within my Template, so that documents based upon it may
not change or delete that text?

However, I do not like how the form fields do not function like regular
"Word." For example, it is very easy to skip over a field using the arrow
keys, which highlights the next field. If you keep typing, you might loose
all your changes.

I would like to have areas of my document within which users may type,
create tables, add ordered lists, etc, and not be "filling out a form."

Is this possible?

If you insert section breaks, you can protect just specific sections of the
document, leaving other sections unprotected. But some features (such as
spell checking) are unavailable in even the unprotected sections of a
protected document.
