Word 2002--will not print envelopes

Hi, I'm new to the group, and I searched your archives to find an
answer to my question, and came up blank. (Just like my envelopes!)
This problem just started, and I've had the computer, the Word 2002
program, and the printer for a year and a half. When I try to print an
envelope, it comes up blank. I've test-printed on a sheet of paper,
still blank. I added the envelope to the document; it's formatted
properly and still won't print. I changed the color of the font; still
nothing. I have a color cartridge inserted, so that's not the problem.
I tried opening Word using the /a format; still doesn't print. I can't
remember what else I've tried, but if I could find it searching the
internet, I did it.

I know this is a frequently asked question, and I imagine y'all get
tired of answering it. I see some similar questions have gotten no
answers, but I'm at my wit's end. I need this for my at-home business,
and it's either y'all or paying a tech to come to my home. (Or loading
Word Perfect just for envelope-printing.)

Although envelope printing problems are common, I think yours is different
since most of the problems result from incorrectly fed envelopes (or Word
set for the incorrect feed method) or ink cartridge problems, and you have
effectively eliminated either of those as an issue. Your testing and
troubleshooting seems to me quite complete, and you have obviously
researched the problem thoroughly before asking your question (and precisely
reported that testing and research, which is quite helpful).

The only thing I can think of as an even possible cause (and it seems like a
real long shot) is that both your Envelope Return and your Envelope Address
style have become formatted as Font: Hidden, but starting Word in Safe Mode
(with the /a switch) would eliminate that as well. So I'm stumped. Perhaps
someone else will have better ideas.

Just for the hell of it see if the envelope templates linked from the
downloads page of my web site will print.

Thanks for the tip, Graham, but I believe I've actually figured out
what the problem is. I just tried to print a map, and everything that
should be in color is blank. When I last changed my black cartridge, I
couldn't figure out how to do it, so I removed my color cartridge too.
Finally got the black in and working, but I don't think the color's in
right. According to the Dell printer, I still have plenty of ink in my
color cartridge; I think I must have it in wrong somehow.

It's early here, and I'm about to head out of town, which is why I was
printing a map. I'll mess with the cartridge when I return and let you
guys know. Thanks for all your help.
