word 2002 won't print new docs

Have been using Word 2002 (part of Works Suite) with no trouble in past.
Now, I can not print any new document or part of a new document that I
create. Printer is OK, prints test pages, other data and any existing docs
fine. It is only a new doc that won't print.

When I click print, all I get is the low paper indicator on my brother hl
-5040, which is not the case. Did I click something some setting in Word
inadvertantly to cause this?
