Word 2002 won't reinstall cleanly

MS Works 2002 which includes Word 2002 came preinstalled on my Dell PC.
Recently Word became corrupted so I first tried to repair and then to
reinstall over the current copy. Neither action corrected the problems so I
decided to remove Works and reinstall it from scratch. The reinstallation
went smoothly and completed OK. However, now when I open up works and click
on Creat A New Word Document I get an error message that says the task
launcher cannot access the requested task. All other tasks work fine
but not Word. I can launch Word by double clicking WksWP.EXE in Windows
Explorer and it seems to work OK. How can I correct the task launcher
problem?

If you go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, do you see Microsoft Works
Suite Add-in for Word listed? Without this add-in, you cannot launch Word
from within Works. If you are launching WksWP.EXE, I would guess you are
getting the Works word processor and not Word. Even when installed with
Works Suite, the Word executable should be Winword.exe. Are you sure you
reinstalled Word?
