log on failed you must log on to microsoft exchange to access your address
book.

I have word 2002 xp and outlook express 6. When I am in word and go to
letters and mailings and envelopes and labels it will not let me access my
address book. I get the above error. Outlook is my default mail client. I
do not know what to do to fix this problem. Please help.

Thank you

Sherry: The first thing you should do is learn the difference between
Outlook Express and Outlook. They are not the same. Make sure Outlook
Express is your default mail client under Internet Explorer,
Tools-->Internet Options, Programs tab.

No! OUTLOOK not Outlook Express must be the default e-mail client for the
address book to work - unless you have the corporate solution Microsoft
Exchange installed - hence the warning message. The Contacts list in Outlook
must also have its property set to be used as an e-mail address book for it
to be available. Check control panel > internet options > programs > e-mail
is Outlook.

If it still won't work, from Outlook > tools > e-mail accounts > view or
change existing address books and directories, delete the Outlook address
book then add it back again to reset the registry pointers. You will not
lose the addresses in your contacts list. Make sure the Contacts list e-mail
address book property is flagged.

She certainly does appear to be using Outlook Express, but you got your
fingers in a twist when replying and told her to set it that way. I am sure
that's not what you meant, but she wouldn't know that ;)
