Word 2002

when i open a word file it does not open and to open i have to close and
reopen. how do i correct? also, when i shut down i am getting the following
messages: the file is in use by another application or user, (c) documents
and settings...\normal.dot; or-and chnages have been made that affect the
global template, normal, do you want to save these changes? yes,no,cancel; or
word cannot save because this file is already open elsewhere, (c0 documents
and settings... \normal.dot, ok. How do i correct these problems with word?

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office
Plugin that comes with it (but don't disable Norton AutoProtect). See
