Word 2002

I am using Word 2002 in XP. While typing a document, when pressing the 'next
line' key (the one below the Backspace key on the right, I think it may be
an Enter key) it spaces 2 lines instead of one. I have tried Font,
Paragraph, Line, Autoformat but nothing changes this setting. To go to the
next line I have to keep pressing the space key until it goes down to the
next single line. It is on 'single spacing'. It has only just started doing
it. How can I go back to one line? Thank you.

The paragraph style you are using has some Space Before/After applied. You
can override this for specific instances by using a line break (Shift+Enter)
instead of a paragraph break, but a better solution would be to correct the
paragraph formatting.

Great! You are right. For Spacing it had reset itself to Auto so I selected 0
and it worked. Thank you Angela.
