word 2002

OS is XP-sp2 and Office is 2002
When using Word 2002 I get a Message
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
Program:C\Program files\microsoft office\office10\WINWORD.EXE
and then lose what I was writing.
i also get this message sometimes when I open an e-mail with an Word
attachment..

Anyone know what's going on?

It suggests that you have a bad third party add-in or macro running that is
incompatible with Word 2002 or is corrupted.

Test by running in Safe Mode. From Start, Run (Winkey+R), type in

winword /a

and press enter. Open a document and test for editing and closing now. If it
is OK now, then you have installed something that has placed an incompatible
add-in in Word/Office.
