Word 2002

A couple of things that hopefully someone will be able to help me with.

I've recently started using Word 2002 at work, upgraded from Word 97, but
with Word 2002 it opens a new version of itself with every document that is
opened - is there anyway to change it to the way that Word 97 works, i.e.
opens 1 copy of itself & allows you to open any number of documents in the
one "version".

I'm also trying to design a simple form using the drop down form field. My
problem with this is that I would like to be able to insert a tick into the
list, but everytime I click on "add", under properties, all that turns up is
a square. Is there any way to add symbols to the drop down lists?

Thanks for any help

Jonathan.

Word 2002 is not opening a new version of itself, it is just opening a new
window for each document.

Although it takes getting used too, the new interface is better, e.g.,. it
allows each doc to maintain its own toolbars, menus, etc.

As I recall, Tools | Options | View has a "Windows in Task bar"option to
change the behavior.
I prefer to have that option selected, you might choose otherwise.

Thanks for the help - I've just got so used to working with only one
instance of Word on the task bar that I prefer it that way. I normally need
to use the same tool bars for each document anyway.
