Word 2002

I purchased a new laptop that came loaded with Office XP. Since it purchase I have had problems with Word 2002. I tried installing SP-1 and this still has not corrected the situation. Here's what happens: when in a Work document and I try to perform a function like print, copy, etc. the program hungs, and I see a flashing Work icon on the taskbar at the bottom o the screen. After several minutes what seems like hours, I get a error box that appears telling me that error has occurred and do I want to send an error report to Microsoft. I have done this several times and have not heard back from them. Can anyone tell me what is happening and how to correct this? Thank you.

Hi Barbara,

Are you also using Norton AV? If you are then Norton's "Office
Plug-in" option known to cause dialog boxes to appear behind the
application window, which is what is causing the task bar to flash.

In Norton go to "Options" and then select "Miscellaneous" and disable
the Office Plug-in option.
