What happens if you start Word in Safe Mode? Hold down the Control Key and
launch Word: this will start Word in its default clean install mode,
bypassing normal.dot, add-ins, templates, macros or any other influence.

If I take a wild guess, I suggest the printer driver may be at fault. Make
sure that you have the latest driver and then delete and reinstall the
printer.

Hi Terry , I started in safe mode but still same problem . reloaded all my
hardware drivers one by one but still the same . Maybe office at fault ?
Checked for virus - nothing . Removed and reinstalled win xp pro , installed
sp but still no go . Please help me , I am using open office in the meantime
.. But please , really need it . Thanks . Danie

I presume you have installed a printer driver?

If it doesn't start in Safe Mode and this is a fresh install of Windows and
Office, then I am at a loss. I assume that the spacebar is working in other
applications and that you have Virus Protection installed. I've no idea.

Terry, thanks for your time and input . Decided to go the long but sure way .
Installed new extra harddrive , done a complete new install winxp ,
installed all my programs anew , installed office xp and everything is fine .
maybe something happened in the drive although it scans clean , cannot find
anything else . Daniel (glassman)

Well computers are still wild animals that bite! Reformat the old drive and
I expect you'll never see the problem again.
