Word 2003 1 page only

When I try to create a new document, I can fill the page but when I want to
continue on the second page the program does not show the second page. I've
tried to bring it up manually, but that doesn't work. When I open a previous
document, it shows all the pages with no problem. This has been going on for
several months now. I tried 'repairing' the software by re-installing it but
that didn't work. WORD just will not take me past page one. I can keep
typing charachters but will not show them. Thanx for any help.

Locate and open your Normal.dot template as described in Method 1 in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm . Click on
Format | Columns | One | Apply to: Whole document | OK. Even if "One"
already appears to be selected, click on it anyway. Type a character or
two and delete what you just typed. Save the Normal.dot template and
close it.

I tried what you suggested. It worked once and that was it. I've gone by
your directions below several times. I tried using it without re-booting at
re-booting the computer. Same results. If I 'edit' 'select all' and reduce
the size of the font, everything comes up on one page that was typed, but
when I go back to the larger font size the text that goes to the next page
dissapears and no second page. Can I change the 'Normal.dot' file back to
the original default?

The article to which you referred explains how to get Word to generate a
fresh copy of Normal.dot.

All well and good but I still have the problem and the FAQ's don't cover it.
This is getting very frustrating. I write articles for a newspaper and I do
go for several pages sometimes.

What happens if you use Format Columns and click on the One column box (even
if it is already selected. Does that force the second page?

If you have generated a fresh Normal.dot and still have the problem, then I
can't imagine what's causing it. Do you experience the problem when you
start in Office Safe Mode?
