I've got a Word 2003 machine and a Word 2000 machine...when a document is
generated on the 2003 machine then emailed to the 2000 machine (or passed
over a network, or a disc), I can open the document, and edit it, but when I
save it, the file size shrinks considerably. Then, when I try to open the
file on the 2003 machine, either by emailing the .doc from w2000 to w2003, or
opening over a network, or moving the file on a disc, I get an error on the
2003 machine and I can't open the file. I think it's got something to do
with the file size shrinking, or at least that's a symptom of the problem. I
only seem to be having this problem on one w2003 machine-I have several
others that can open the new file with no problems. Do I have a bad install
of Word 2003 that's inflating file size for no reason, then when the file is
opened in w2000 it's shrunk back to its proper size? I'm stumped...
