Word 2003 and Powerpoint 2003 graphics not showing in Office 2000

I've embedded jpg images in a Word 2003 and Powerpoint 2003 documents. When
I send it to colleagues and clients who have Word 2000 and Powerpoint 2000
the images show as red crosses. Is there anything I could do to ensure that
the 2000 users can open these documents.
