word 2003 as e-mail editor in Outlook 2003

Hello

I have word 2003 sp2, outlook 2003 sp2 and xp sp2 home edition.

When I reply to an e-mail I'd like to use word 2003 as
e-mail editor. So I checked "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages." in Tools > Options > Mail Format.

But on clicking Reply button on the Standard toolbar I get the follwing message "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead. An OLE registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run Setup again for the program."

Please can you tell me which Setup program I have to run again - Outlook 2003 or Word 2003 ? How do I resolve this error message ? Thank you.

PS What is the difference between Rich Text format and HTML ? For what occasions can I use the either ?

Thank you for your reply dave.

I followed the instructuoins in the link you gave. I reinstalled office
2003.

I am still getting the same error message shown below when I click the Reply
button on the Standard toolbar in Outlook 2003 and despite having a check
mark in "use word 2003 to edit e-mail messages". Thank you.

Hi Hash,
Sorry to hear that the link didn't solve your problem. So far it did for
everybody
else with the same problem. Probably you have missed one of the little
things of the instructions.
Did you create the signature in Outlook or in Word?
Did you try to insert it without using Word as E-mail editor?
Did you check for possible remains of an older version of Word on your
System?
I suggest to carefully check all the steps of the instructions again and see
if you
have missed something.
Good luck,

Regarding RTF vs. HTML: RTF is an old Microsoft invention that was used
before HTML was here, and is not supported by most non-MS mail clients.
HTML is much more flexible, so I recommend to use HTML or Plain Text
over RTF.

I've been having a problem similar to Hash's and also tried all the solutions
in the document you sent a link to. Still no solution to the problem!

Folks
I too have the same problem and attempted each of the resolutions offered
and I still have the error. Also note that within the error it states "OLE
Registration Failed" perhaps this will help with your analysis.

Thanks

Folks
One of the other discussion threds listed this as a fix, I ran the command
below and it now works!

Try it out.

Try Start | Run | regsvr32 ole32.dll
