Hi ProfC,
ASK fields are used to create a bookmark, the contents of which can be used elsewhere in a document. You can create one via
Insert|Field. Once you've made your ASK field, it may disconcertingly disappear. That's because they *only* create a bookmark. This
can be problematic for someone who doesn't know where the ASK field is to update it. To get the contents to display anywhere, you
need to use a cross-reference, which you can create via Insert|Cross Reference. You can have multiple cross-references to the same
ASK field.
An alternative to using ASK fields is to use FILLIN fields. The do the opposite of ASK fields: they display a result but don't set a
bookmark. You might find a FILLIN field, which you could add a bookmark to via Insert|Bookmark, easier to work with.
The other issue to be aware of is that cross-references don't automatically update in the typical document. You need to do a print
preview or something such to achieve that.
If you don't mind some of the restrictions that go with protecting at least one section a document for forms, you could use a text
formfield to solicit the input. With these, you can set a property to 'calculate on exit' and this will update the cross-references
automatically.
Cheers

| I would like to know how to use "Ask" so that information can be supplied in
| one field and then automatically appear in other locations.
