We have a few sites with the same problem:
-Win 2003 Terminal servers with Office 2003, all SPs loaded
Each user has a home drive of H:
-After a while the auto recovery docs compiles on the pane on the left, and
become 1000s, you can select close, but you need to close every one, as "the
document existed on the H drive and is no longer available" even though auto-
recovery location is not on the H: drive
-These files do not appear gradually, ie after every time Word crashes a
file appears. You will just open Word one day and there will be 1000's all of
the sudden, and the files have dates (or last opened by user) up to a year
ago.
-This is a daily problem - we have to log in daily and click on OK for 20-30
minutes on end. The list does dissappear after a while.
-The ~autorecoverXXXXXXX.asd files exists in no- ones Word- startup
directory, in fact we have scanned the whole site.
If we can completely disable the future it will be perfect. With 1000s of
documents starting up, with missing shortcuts - it can take longer than 2
minutes to open each Word session, and these are legal secretaries - very
dependant on speed.
We have already:
Removed the autsave feature on the Normol.dot template
Updated all SPs
Repaired Office (though it is accross different server, different sites)
Manually removed all XXXXX.asd files
Used Group Policy for Office to disable the feature
Any ideas will be welcome?
