WORD 2003 Automatically Repaginating my Document

Darlene

Suddenly, WORD 2003 is automatically repaginating my document after almost
every style change or even line "enter" . I am working with a large
document. This is killing my productivity. I have Norton: I have scanned
for errors; I have done "detect and repair". Please help me. I normally
work in "print layout" format. My operating system is XP professional. This
is a recent problem. Previously the system only repaginated when I updated
my TOC or Index. I want to be able to turn this OFF.

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

That seems to happen when your document gets big and complicated. If
you can work in Draft view, it won't keep repaginating on you; also,
if you close your document every so often, it can forget the many,
many Undo's it's keeping track of.

It is not possible to turn off automatic repagination in print layout view.
The document constantly repaginates, however beyond a certain size of
document, this cannot be handled in memory and the temporary files are paged
out to disc, which results in significant slowing. With very large documents
it is faster to work in normal view with background repagination switched
off.
