Word 2003 cannot open a Word XP(2002) document

I am getting error message "MS Word has encountered a problem and cannot
continue" when trying to open a document created by Word 2002. I have
installed all available updates. Word 2003 can open other documents
correctly, but not this one. How can I "fix" the document so Word 2003 can
open it?

Try using the Open and Repair option (it is in the File, Open dialog - click
the arrow attached tot he OPEN button).

It worked! I didn't think it would because the original error dialog asked if
I wanted to "repair and re-open" the file. When I said Yes, it failed. I
guess there is a difference between "repair and re-open" and "open and
repair."

Thank you for your help. I am really glad I don't have to reinstall, or fall
back to Word 2002.

I please it worked. It does seem quite a powerful tool. Usually if that
doesn't work, you are in serious trouble with a document!
