Word 2003; closes all documents when taskbar item is clicked

I have a user who has two or more Word documents open. He can click on one
taskbar item, but when he clicks the second one, it just closes all Word
documents, and doesn't ask to save anything. I have witnessed this myself,
and it happens on a daily basis. He is wise enough to save often, thank
goodness.
