Word 2003 closes down instead of maximising when clicking on taskb

When changing between open programmes, I have suddenly found that when I
click on the taskbar tab for Word (only, so far as I can see), it immediately
closes down rather than maximising to the front of screen (effectively it
crashes causing autosaved docs to open when restarted) . This has only
happened in the last couple of days and I don't think I have changed/added
anything manually.

Any ideas would help. Thanks.

Hello Suzanne, I do apologise - I found your earlier reply to this problem
via an alternative search - thought it was for 2002 only then saw the
addition re 2003 as well.

It's usually safe to assume that an article has general application unless
it specifies otherwise, especially when it was written for an earlier
version and may not have been updated. A lot of my articles on the
word.mvps.org site, for example, were written for Word 97 but still apply to
Word 2003.
