word 2003 closes itself without warning

a fw people i know have this problem, word just closes itself automatically
without any warning or chance to save your work, it sometimes recovers the
work when you open word again but not always. Anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks! This has helped for me as well. (Actually, I'd also see Word
disappear when selecting a Windows folder from the taskbar.)
