word 2003 conflict with adobe contribute

I've already tried everything - removed the Contribute add in first,
repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled now I just get the error:

Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.

I use Outlook for mail and like formatting with word - any ideas?
