Word 2003 Converting .RTF to .PDF

On large files ~4MB will not complete conversion.
Running Adobe 6.0.6

On smaller files it will convert, but the file size grows 10 times the size
it should be. Takes a long time to convert in either cases.

Standard settings on Adobe Acrobat 6.0.6
