Word 2003 crashes making bulleted list

Word 2003 crasheswhenever I try to make a bulleted or numbered list, or when
autoformat tries to do it. This is a clean install of Word 2003 on this
computer, with all updates loaded. I have used the Detect and Repair utility
and it did not solve the problem. I have completely uninstalled and
reinstalled Office 2003 and it did not solve the problem. I used the
Microsoft Install CleanUp utility and it did not solve the problem.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to fix Word, or does someone know how
to REALLY COMPLETELY uninstall Office (including all the registry entries)?

TIA,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Chances are all you need to do is delete a corrupt Registry key.

Exit Word in the Registry drill down to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\List Gallery
Presets

And delete the List Gallery Presets key. This key will be recreated
upon restarting Word.

As always, prior to making any changes to the Registry you should
review "Backing up the Registry" and "Restoring the Registry" in the
Registry Help.

In this situation you may also want to use the Registry/Export
Registry file command and export your selected branch. That way if you
find the change wasn't necessary or incorrect you can merge the
deleted branch back to the Registry by double-clicking the resulting
file.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I would like to take it a step further and
delete ALL Office registry keys. I am also having problems with Outlook that
are most likely due to a corrupt key. And, just like this Word problem,
uninstallking and reinstalling Office does not solve it. Is there a way to
COMPLETELY uninstall Office 2003 including ALL registry keys?

Right now I'm equally frustrated with Norton for causing the problem in the
first place and with Microsoft for not making it possible to do a 100% clean
uninstall and start all over. It looks like I'll have to reformat my hard
drive and spend two days rebuilding my system.

Thanks for any sugggestions you have, Beth.
Mike
