WORD 2003 crashes when opening document with macros disabled.

If user chooses to open the document with macros enabled the document opens
up fine.

BUT he wants to open the document with macros disabled and then do a merge.

Also during a merge and compare word states the disk is full and he can't
save the merged document anywhere.
