Word 2003 Crashes

Ryan Miller

I have a couple documents that open fine on one machine but crash word every
time on another machine. The machine where Word crashes, opens some word
documents fine too.

One document crashes immediately. Another opens seemingly fine, then
crashes after about 15 seconds. In either case, this is the message from
the event viewer:

Faulting application winword.exe, version 11.0.6359.0, stamp 40c8b025,
faulting module hpbf241h.dll, version 4.3.2.201, stamp 3c802a95, debug? 0,
fault address 0x00003c82.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling/repair installing but after each one,
the same crash & message appears. Has anyone seen this?

Thanks,

-Ryan

The faulting module indicates a problem with your HP printer driver. Delete
the printer and reinstall, making sure that it is installed locally even if
you will be using it over a network.

Wow, I'm not sure I would have ever come up with that, but it worked.

Thanks!

It took us a while to figure that one out too. :)

Oddly enough, this problem was supposed to be sort of corrected in
Word 2003. Instead of Word crashing you should have encountered a
dialog box indicating Word was unable to find the printer. <sigh>
