Word 2003 crashing when no network connection

R

Ross

I have 2 different laptops with Office 2003 Small
Business Edition. When connected to the network they work
fine. When disconnected, both laptops produce an error
saying "Word has generated an error and needs to close".
I have tried doing a detect and repair. Tried re-
installing over the top and completely removing and re-
installing. Still the same error. I have checked the
folder options and ensured no network drives within these.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

In Start | Control Panel | Printers, is the default printer a network
printer?

I've tried seting up a dummy local printer and using that
as default. Seems to be working fine at moment. Will post
an update later.

You can install the driver for the network printer locally. As long as Word
has a printer driver to refer to, it will be happy, and you might as well
use the one you'll eventually be using for printing.
