word 2003(de) freezes when opening certain word docs

Word 2003 ( de ) freezes and needs up to 5 minutes to open certain word
documents.( 1 Page orders , received by our customers)
That situation is, let’s say: suboptimal

What we found out: affected customers use word9 or works2
What we tried so far:
1) Patch office with all official patches , effect : word opens the
documents within 2 minutes ( Word still freezes)
2) Open documents in word save mode , effect : ( word opens documents within
2-5 Minutes). Word freezes
3) Open with wordpad , effect ( documents open immediately but formatting
and some data gets lost)
4) Open documents with word 2000 , effect : no problem for word 2000
5) Install MS rhdtool . Open word document with word 2003 , wait 5 minutes
, remove personal information , -> next time the word doc will open normally.
(not usefull –)

Is there a patch or hotfix for the problem ?
Does someone know this problem ?

found out that the patch is included in xp sp2
set the reg keys - but no change
still have to wait 5 minutes


i think i should force my customers to fix the problem
