Word 2003 doc in Word 2002

Just recently, I receive the following error message when opening/downloading
an '03 Word file from email to my '02 version: "The document name or path is
not valid." They used to download and open just fine, now not at all. Any
suggestions?

Are you saving the email attachment to your local HDD before trying to open
it?

Yes, I saved the document to the HDD first. Interestingly, these Word docs
were sent to my hotmail account, and would not open on my laptop (XP), my
Mac, or my husband's laptop (also XP). I had this person re-send one of the
files to my yahoo address and: it opened! Other people were able to open
those same files just fine on their machines...seems that this might be a
problem in hotmail for me, maybe corrupting my files?

It seems the mostly likely explanation but it still leaves the question Why?
I don't use HotMail but I know plenty of users and they don't seem to have
that problem. Try HotMail support and see if they can throw any light onto
the problem.
