Word 2003 encounters a problem and needs to close at start up

Every time I try to open Word 2003 I get a message saying Word has
encountered a problem and needs to close. I can opt to open it in safe mode,
which does allow Word to open (in safe mode). I reinstalled Office 2003 and
it still does it. It is Microsoft WOrd 2003 (11.8169.8172)SP3. My OS is
WIndows XP.
