This is a followup to a previous unresolved issue.
Machine: XP Pro SP3, Word 2003 SP3, Dual CPU, 2.4 GHz, 2 GB Ram
There is an annoying process that interrupts entry into Word 2003. It
occurs regularly and frequently. An hourglass replaces the regular cursor
and entry is inhibited for a few seconds. The machine does not exhibit the
problem is safe mode.
Interestingly, there is a parallel issue with Explorer. The history is
replaced, temporarily but again regularly and frequently with random symbols.
As suggested by one wise sage, I downloaded process explorer.
The culprit appears to be spoolsv.exe. When the process is suspended, the
problem ceases. When the process is active, the problem occurs.
However - the process must be enabled to start Word. It appears to be a
legitimate MS process.
Therefore, something must be calling spoolsv.exe. I do not see any such
program in process explorer.
So...any thoughts or suggestions?
