Word 2003: Envelopes and Labels gives me an error

Every time I click on the 'Envelopes and Labels' option in Word 2003
(from Microsoft Office 2003 Basic edition) it shows me the
'Microsoft Word has encountered a proble. We're sorry for the
inconvenience'.
I tried contacting Microsoft for the first free call, but they said I
should call Dell since it came with the computer. I called Dell and
they said 'reinstall Office' I did, and I'm having the same problem.
Now they say 'well, that's all we can do for you, if you want help I
can transfer you to the software support technicians and you'll pay a
fee for that'
Great, so I lost my free 1 tech. support with Microsoft because the
software came from Dell, and Dell can only say 'reinstall software'.
Am I screwed? Can anyone help me here?

Get Avery Design Pro, it's free and has a lot more features than the Office
built-in.

update:
The clients have Windows XP Professional.
The printer where labels would go eventually is a Laserjet 4200N.
It's configured as a network printer from the Win 2000 server.
I 'installed' the printer again, but now to be used directly from the
computer using the setup software from the printer and now it works.
So it seems Word 2003 has a problem with network printers configured
with the server connection instead of locally.
